The NET (New English Translation) Bible
This is a freely available translation of the Bible. It is really good for the poetry and also for St Paul. Conveniently, it is also available as an app. For the app, click here. There is also a version for Kindle.

The Harper Collins Study Bible (NRSV)
The Catholic Study Bible (NAB Rev.Ed.)
The New Oxford Annotated Bible (NRSV)

All three of these are really good. You might consider buying a hardback copy of one of them as these are quite large books. A small copy for bringing to the presentations would also be more practical.

M. Eugene Boring, The People's New Testament Commentary.
This is a terrific book — intended for the ordinary parishioner. It was originally a hardback but is now available also in paperback and for Kindle. Again, because it is a big book, I would suggest getting the hardback edition.
