The Gospel for the current liturgical year is Matthew.
It is a Gospel which in many ways mirrors our own times:

  • Written in a time of great upheaval and uncertainty
  • Written for a mixed community facing many challenges, such as:

  • What do we believe about Jesus Christ?
  • How can we be disciples today?
  • How much of the previous tradition should we hold on to?
  • What about new wine, new wineskins?
  • What is at the heart of the proclamation?
